On the shore of the Northumberland Strait, Amherst Shore Provincial Park offers an attractive mixed woodland setting for camping. Walking on trails, swimming or beachcombing are enjoyable activities at the park. This park, like others along this coast, offers some of the warmest saltwater swimming north of the Carolinas. The park offers a 56-site campground (44 wooded; 5 partially wooded; 7 open), comfort station (showers and flush toilets), dishwashing station, group shelter, playground, hiking trails, and a walking trail leading to an unsupervised beach area. Serviced and Unserviced sites are offered. Water taps and vault toilets are conveniently located throughout the campground. Located on Route 366, the Sunrise Trail, 37 km (23 mi.) east of Amherst and 27 km (17 mi.) west of Pugwash.
CampFinder checks Nova Scotia Parks every 30 minutes, around the clock, and emails you when a booked-up night opens back up. That catches most cancellations, which sit open for hours; at the few campgrounds that refill in seconds it can miss the race. Set up a free availability alert for Amherst Shore Provincial Park.
