CampFinderPrivacy Policy
CampFinder (campfinder.site) is a free campsite availability alert service. This page says, in plain language, what we store, why, and how to get rid of it.
What we store
- Your email address. It is your account. We use it to send login links and the alerts you asked for.
- Your watches. The campground, the date window, and the site types you selected for each watch.
- Login sessions. A random session id tied to your account, so you stay signed in.
- A ledger of alerts already sent. Which campground nights we have emailed you about, so you are not emailed twice for the same opening.
- Weekend digest subscriptions. If you opt into a weekend openings list, we store which lists you chose. That is the only mailing list we run, it is opt-in, and every digest has a one-click unsubscribe.
We do not store your location, your reservation-system credentials, payment details, or anything you book. CampFinder never has access to your Recreation.gov or state park account.
How we use your email address
Only for sign-in links (passwordless magic links), the alerts you set up, and any weekend digest you opted into. It is never sold, never shared with third parties, and there is no marketing list. Every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe link that pauses the watch it came from, and every digest has one that drops that subscription.
Sign in with Google
If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address only, verified by Google. We do not request or store any other profile data.
Cookies
cf_session: the sign-in cookie. It holds a random session id, lasts 90 days, and is required to use your account.- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 run on the public pages and set their usual analytics cookies. We use them for aggregate traffic statistics only.
Where the data lives
On a single server in the United States hosted by DigitalOcean. Alert and login emails are delivered through Resend, which processes your email address to send them.
Deleting your data
- You can delete any watch yourself from your account page at any time.
- To delete your whole account, including your email address, watches, sessions, and alert ledger, email hello@campfinder.site from the address on the account.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be mentioned on the site.
